Acoustic voice analysis in ENT practice

Author: Ph.D. Marcin Just (DiagNova Technologies)

Part I: Theoretical foundations of voice acoustic analysis

This study describes the physical and mathematical foundations of acoustic voice analysis. It explains the terminology used in DiagNova Technologies software, particularly the DiagnoScope Specialist program, and the significance of the acoustic parameters it determines.

Table of Contents:

Part II: Application of acoustic analysis in practice

This study describes the practical use of the most important acoustic voice analysis tools from the set offered by the DiagnoScope Specialist program.

Part III: The influence of recording conditions on the results of acoustic analysis

Acoustic analysis has been used primarily in large clinical centers. These centers are typically equipped with high-quality recording equipment, such as high-end dynamic microphones with dedicated amplifiers. The widespread use of acoustic voice analysis for screening requires examining the impact of recording conditions and the equipment used on analysis results. This study presents the results of our research on this topic and the conclusions drawn from it.

Medical video recording

Author: MSc Anna Racino, Ph.D Marcin Just, Ph.D. Michał Tyc, (DiagNova Technologies)

Part I: Basic issues related to medical video recording

This study provides information on real-time image capture (grabbing) from cameras connected directly to a computer for general endoscopy purposes. The terminology used is consistent with the terminology used in DiagNova Technologies software.

The result of the described recording process (capturing, grabbing) is a properly created file on the computer's hard drive containing a single frame or sequence of frames. Real-time operation will be described in particular detail.

Part II: Kymography

Kimography is an imaging of the functioning of the vocal folds using the recording of their closures and openings over a period of time, in any selected cross-section of the folds. Advanced kimography allows for the imaging of vocal fold function along their entire length in a single graph – a phonovibrogram.

This study describes the principle of performing kymography. A method of recording videostroboscopic material is described so that the kymography can be fully utilized, because only then does it allow for a complete diagnosis. It also describes methods for framing the video material using innovative features implemented in the DiagnoScope Specjalista software, along with sample images.

Part III: Medical video recording in practice

In this study, we present in detail the most important basic and advanced functions implemented by the software for recording video images from endoscopic cameras. We omit here the description of other software functions not directly related to video recording, such as creating medical records and managing patient data.
